Who knew?
I never expected to find a tall and beautiful totem in such a secluded little park. There are many details to observe on this totem, from the large whales at the bottom to the small people climbing stairs way up high. The playground located by the water was hidden from our view so the huge concrete lion adorning it came as a surprise. I noticed a wading pool in the playground but I can not confirm that it is still in use. A long pier is accessible through the little patch of evergreens (providing nice shade for a picnic). We walked on it until we reached the open water of Lake Ontario sprinkled with tiny sailboats. Small planes landed on the runway on Toronto Islands as a bonus. (Attention, there's no rail along the pier so you'll need to be extra careful with young children.)
